What Liverpool fans chanted to West Ham supporters as Anfield away end emptied
Liverpool fans poked fun at West Ham at the end of their 5-2 win over the Hammers.
The Irons’ situation at the bottom of the table has seen no improvement, with relegation continuing to threaten the London Stadium outfit.
Anfield appeared to have no sympathy for the East Londoners, whose supporters had begun to leave early with no chance of a comeback in sight.
There were some signs that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men could do the unthinkable, but ultimately the gulf in quality between the two sides was the difference maker.
The Liverpool fanbase, unlike West Ham’s, was obviously in great spirits, and that came at the expense of the travelling Irons, with journalist Lewis Steele revealing that Liverpool fans began chanting towards the away end.

Liverpool fans poke fun at West Ham misery
West Ham felt the effects of Anfield, with Liverpool scoring five goals in the Premier League for the first time this season.
While the Hammers were not at their best, the 5-2 scoreline was perhaps more flattering than the performance showed.
Liverpool fans, of course, did not care too much in that regard, as, according to journalist Steele, Liverpool fans began to chant that West Ham were “going down,” as supporter headed for the exit in their droves.
Why Liverpool’s West Ham chant may turn out to be wrong
West Ham fans will be hoping that the Merseyside club’s chant does not come true, and there are plenty of reasons to believe it won’t.
Since mid-January, the Hammers have seen a drastic upturn in form, and this one blip does not define how they have been under their Portuguese manager.
- West Ham have picked up 11 points from the last 21 available in the Premier League
- The Hammers have also kept two clean sheets in that period as well
According to Sofascore, the Hammers created more xG (1.84) than Liverpool did despite conceding five to the Reds.
Overall, Arne Slot’s side simply just had more quality across their squad than Nuno currently has at his disposal.
Against weaker opponents, West Ham could very well have come out with a result.
Games against opposition such as Liverpool will not define West Ham’s season, but they will have to put this scoreline behind them.
Conceding five goals could cause heads to drop, but focus must turn to Fulham on Wednesday, where three points are an absolute must.
