West Ham worries emerge for Nuno Espirito Santo after what ‘daft’ Taty Castellanos did vs Tottenham

Taty Castellanos didn’t cover himself in glory for West Ham in the first half against Tottenham.

Nuno Espirito Santo is under pressure at West Ham and is in need of a positive result away at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Crysencio Summerville gave the Irons the lead as he grabbed yet another goal in claret and blue after his strike against QPR last time out.

Jarrod Bowen has struggled at times for West Ham, but has grown into the game with some positive spells of play going forward.

It is Castellanos who has caught the eye in North London, but for all the wrong reasons, after giving Nuno an early concern against the Lilywhites.

Taty Castellanos let himself down vs Tottenham

Castellanos scored for West Ham against QPR and has looked dangerous at times against Thomas Frank’s side.

The Argentine won’t be remembered in the opening 45 minutes for his attacking exploits, but more so for an early yellow card.

Pablo went up with Conor Gallagher with just seconds on the clock, but the Brazilian went down to earn a free kick off the Spurs man.

Castellanos was unhappy with the challenge and suggested to referee Jarred Gillett that the midfielder should be booked.

The winter signing picked up a yellow card for his troubles, raising frustration from former Hammers man Matthew Upson on the Premier League world feed.

He said: “Castellanos did indicate for a yellow, which is an instant booking. It’s a daft thing to do, really, because you know a booking is coming. It’s worrying for Nuno as well.

The referee is doing his job, you don’t need to intervene and tell him how to do his job. The referee has no choice but to book him, but to be on a yellow card after a minute is never great.

Castellanos could cost West Ham in second half

The Hammers are hardly blessed with depth in the number nine position right now, especially with Callum Wilson on his way out.

The Englishman is on the bench against Tottenham, but there is no guarantee that Nuno will call upon him in the second half.

West Ham substitutes against Tottenham:

Castellanos was likely to feature across the full 90 minutes, but may have to be hooked rather than risking a red card for the January signing.

He has already missed a clear-cut chance in the first half and could find himself sent off the longer this clash goes on, something which represents a concern for Nuno.
