West Ham v Brentford: Andy Gray destroys Lucas Paqueta – ‘Awful’
West Ham took on Brentford in the Premier League at the London Stadium on Saturday, hoping for a change of fortune.
The Hammers went into the game in 16th place, knowing that a win would skyrocket them to 13th on the table.
However, the final score at the London Stadium was 1-0 to the visitors.
West Ham put in an awful first half display against Brentford
While the score at half-time was only 1-0, it was a terrible first-half display from the Hammers.
They struggled to build out from the back properly, did very little with the ball once it progressed to the final third and failed to contain Brentford’s numerous attacks.
Things could have got a lot worse for the hosts when Lucas Paqueta attempted a left-footed pass in his own half that fell straight to a Brentford player and led to Yoane Wissa finding the back of the net.
However, the hosts were lucky that he was offside otherwise it looked like they were two goals down in the first half.
Reacting to this moment, Andy Gray told beIN Sports on 15 February at 3:52pm: “That is awful. It was given as offside and Wissa knows. But this is shocking. That ball – I have no idea.”
Graham Potter still needs to get the best out of his players
Graham Potter will be aware that he’s got a task on his hands and some of these players are not performing at their best levels.
This was no way they should be playing in front of their home fans in a game they should have been favourites to win.
The extra rest days came to nothing as there was no improvement from the last time the Hammers stepped on the field of play.
Potter knew the enormity of the job when he took over and it’s time he starts living up to it.

Only time will tell if he can improve these players and make them more competitive against the other teams in the league.
