West Ham United confirmed starting XI vs Tottenham as Kalvin Phillips decision made
West Ham United manager David Moyes has named his starting line-up for Tuesday’s (2 April) Premier League clash with Tottenham.
The Irons head into the game at London Stadium looking to respond to the cruel 4-3 loss at Newcastle United last time out.
Moyes has made one change on the back of that match at St James’ Park, as confirmed by the club’s official X account (2 April).
That alteration comes in goal as Alphonse Areola is ruled out with the injury sustained against Newcastle and is replaced by Lukasz Fabianski.
Plenty of focus was on whether Kalvin Phillips would be handed a start after his latest howler against the Magpies, but he is once again among the substitutes.
David Moyes makes right call on Kalvin Phillips v Tottenham
Phillips could do with some starts to build up some of the rhythm that he is clearly lacking, but this is not the game to do that.
The England international is in a bit of a rut at the moment and it may well be that he is not even trusted to do a job from the bench against Spurs.
Moyes has stuck with Tomas Soucek and James Ward-Prowse in the engine room, with a front four of Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus and Michail Antonio.
As disappointing as the Newcastle result was, if West Ham can replicate the performance that saw them lead 3-1 then they will be fine against Tottenham.
This is by no means an easy fixture, but a London derby on home soil seems the perfect opportunity to get the Newcastle loss out of the system.
With this XI named by Moyes, there is no reason why they cannot get the job done.
