West Ham United v Southampton: ‘David Moyes return’ mooted live on talkSPORT

West Ham United face Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday, with a massive claim being made regarding Everton boss David Moyes.

The London Stadium hosts Simon Rusk’s team on 19 April, with the home side looking to end the season on a high note.

Moyes was replaced by Julen Lopetegui last summer at the Hammers, and David Sullivan arguably made the wrong call with the Scotsman, who’s now succeeding at Everton.

Graham Potter has taken charge of the Irons after the Spanish manager’s sacking, but the former Chelsea boss has struggled as well, leading to suggestions of a change in the dugout once again.

Moyes return needed at West Ham

Moyes’ return could potentially be needed at the London Stadium, Adrian Durham says.

The talksSPORT pundit suggested that the Irons “probably” need the Scottish manager as they face Southampton at home.

Durham questioned whether the East London outfit want Moyes back, and feels they may already want the 61-year-old head coach, who’s thriving at Goodison Park.

Speaking on talkSPORT (19 April, 15:06), the pundit said: “Do West Ham want [Moyes] back? Probably.”

Potter needs win v Southampton to show London Stadium progress

Potter has struggled at the London Stadium since replacing Julen Lopetegui, with the Spanish manager accused of failing to bring out the best in the squad.

The former Chelsea boss may now have realised the task at hand, with the Hammers enduring some damaging results recently.

While losing to Liverpool at Anfield in the previous fixture may have been expected, the Irons must show more fight in the final stretch of the campaign.

West Ham fans will expect three points against Southampton, who’ve already been relegated from the Premier League.

The Saints recently sacked Ivan Juric, with Rusk taking interim charge until the end of the season.

With the London Stadium faithful on the Hammers’ back, they need to put in a convincing performance.

While the Irons’ displays have been better since Lopetegui’s departure, supporters expect much better from them.

Potter needs to show he’s the right man to take charge of the East London outfit for next season, and failure to do so may lead to his sacking.
