West Ham United v Newcastle: Lucas Paqueta and Nayef Aguerd injury news emerges
David Moyes has issued an update on the fitness of West Ham duo Lucas Paqueta and Nayef Aguerd ahead of the Premier League clash v Newcastle.
The Hammers travel to St James’ Park to take on Eddie Howe’s side on Saturday, 30 March.
There is a doubt over Aguerd’s availability and Paqueta is not ruled out but is not confirmed to be available either so will be assessed.
Via Twitter, The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas wrote: “Moyes on team news: ‘We’re pretty much fine but we have a question mark over Aguerd and we’re assessing Paqueta’.”
West Ham face a double injury wait
While Aguerd’s potential absence in defence could be managed by the Hammers due to available alternatives, Paqueta’s potential unavailability poses a more significant concern.
The Brazilian’s absence would deprive the Hammers of his crucial contributions in midfield and attack.
Paqueta’s ability to link midfield and attack seamlessly provides fluidity to West Ham’s play, facilitating transitions and creating goal-scoring opportunities.
His prowess in the final third keeps opposition defences under constant pressure, offering unpredictability and creativity in attack.
The attacking midfielder’s absence would not only disrupt the rhythm but also diminish their ability to unlock defences and create goal-scoring chances.
Hopefully, he passes any late fitness test he has to undergo and is fit and firing on all cylinders in this crucial Premier League clash.
