West Ham United v Bayern Leverkusen: Robbie Savage stunned by what Jarrod Bowen did

Robbie Savage was left absolutely stunned by Jarrod Bowen as he set up Michail Antonio’s goal as West Ham drew 1-1 against Bayer Leverkusen.

The Hammers came into the game 2-0 down from the first leg in Germany but couldn’t do enough at the London Stadium, crashing out 3-1 on aggregate.

But while on commentary for TNT Sports during the game (18 April, 20:15), Savage was left stunned by the assist from England international Bowen.

“The ball is absolutely unbelievable,” he said, before praising Antonio for his bravery to go in for the header.

Jarrod Bowen is the star for West Ham United

There has been debate in recent times about who the best player to wear Claret and Blue in recent years is; Declan Rice, Bowen or Lucas Paqueta.

While Rice was exceptional, he rarely was able to win a game on his own because of the defensive nature of his game. But what Bowen does for the team is just another level and he is by far the main man for Moyes.

Since his injury a few weeks ago the Hammers haven’t been the same at all, but his return to the team even after just one training session shows how important and how good he is.

With Paqueta fit too and Mohammed Kudus joining them, east London has one of the most exciting, dynamic and lethal attacks in the Premier League.

Bowen is the difference maker for West Ham, and if Gareth Southgate is brave enough he could well be the same for England this summer too.

In other West Ham news, the club want to sign this £40m ace in a “cash deal” this summer.
