West Ham United: Sky Sports pundit blown away by ‘unbelievable’ moment in clash v Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze blew Robert Earnshaw away with an “unbelievable” strike in the Eagles’ showdown with West Ham United.

David Moyes’ side extended their winless run in all competitions to four games as they were trounced 5-2 at Selhurst Park on Sunday (21 April) with Michail Antonio’s first-half goal proving to be little more than a consolation.

The Hammers conceded four times in the first half, with Eze’s finish the pick of the bunch as the England international volleyed in with an impressive bicycle kick that left Sky Sports pundit Earnshaw stunned.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Sunday (21 April, 15:21) he said: “Wow, it’s 3-0 and West Ham are in trouble here. It’s Eze with an unbelievable bicycle kick. Great play, they stole the ball and this is going to be a trademark with Crystal Palace under their new manager.

“Steal the ball in midfield, Olise gets it and slides Mateta in. He has a shot, it’s saved by Fabianski and it loops up in the air and Eze is coming in with a bicycle kick right into the roof of the net.”

Unbelievable” Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze ups pressure on West Ham United boss David Moyes

West Ham really needed to get back to winning ways following their Europa League exit at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen, but their performance at Selhurst Park was so, so poor that it is hard to see how Moyes keeps his job.

This isn’t the first time this season that the Hammers have been embarrassed by a fellow London club. While the Scotsman survived the defeat to Arsenal, it is impossible to see how he should be allowed to continue after this defeat.

Eze’s goal was a moment of magic and it deserved the praise that is received, but it also served as a reminder of the sort of thing the likes of Mohammed Kudus or Lucas Paqueta could do under a more attack-minded manager.

Hopefully, some action will be taken following the full-time whistle. Something has to change at the London Stadium and while the players have to shoulder some of the blame, the ultimate fault always lies with a manager.
