West Ham United ratings v Nottingham Forest – Alvarez a 1/10 disaster, Bowen only bright spark

West Ham United lost 3-0 as they faced Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

The Hammers visited the City Ground on 2 November, and goals from Chris Wood, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ola Aina sealed the victory for the home side.

Julen Lopetegui started off with a back five, as Konstantinos Mavropanos, Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman started in defence.

Edson Alvarez picked up a red card just before the break after a foul on Anthony Elanga saw him receive his second yellow of the game.

Here are our player ratings for the game:

Lukasz Fabianski – 4

The Polish national couldn’t do much about the first goal, with Woods scoring his header from six yards out. The shot-stopper didn’t help the team with some of his scruffy saves. But he could’ve done better as the second goal went in despite the deflection. The third goal from Aina was unstoppable. Fabianski made a brilliant save towards the end of the game to deny the fourth. He made another brilliant save in stoppage time to deny Ramon Sosa.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6

The former Manchester United defender made some good tackles and set up the first meaningful attack for the team after the break. Tried to create things in the final third, but most of his crosses were blocked. Switched to left-back after Andy Irving came on.

Konstantinos Mavropanos – 3

Alex Moreno beat the Greek easily before the full-back set up Woods’ goal. He got a slight deflection that took the ball past Fabianski for the Hudson-Odoi goal. Overall, the 26-year-old didn’t have the best of games.

Jean-Clair Todibo – 2

The 24-year-old was calm under pressure in the opening minutes. But things unravelled as he was at fault for letting Woods be free in the box. Shifted to the midfield at the start of the second half. Gave a foul away for the free kick before the second goal. For the third goal, he gave the ball away to Aina.

Max Kilman – 4

The summer signing was the only defender who didn’t make silly errors. He tried to force things at times by making a few forward runs in the first half. But in the end, the Englishman was part of a backline that shipped in three goals.

Emerson – 5

The Italian made some strong tackles and kept Elanga relatively silent. He was substituted in the 79th minute.

Guido Rodriguez – 3

The World Cup winner didn’t do much in the game as Forest dominated the engine room. He was substituted at half-time.

Edson Alvarez – 1

The Mexican was poor in possession. He picked up a silly yellow card at first. Then the midfielder fouled Elanga for his second yellow just before the break, with the team losing 1-0. Cost his side massively.

Lucas Paqueta – 5

The Brazilian initially showed his flair and technical ability on the ball. He was aggressive and won possession. But he was one of the players who let Moreno run past him before the first goal. The 27-year-old was close to scoring just before the half, but his shot was blocked. He was poor in possession in the final third in the second half.

Crysencio Summerville – 4

The former Leeds United star won fouls in the game’s opening minutes but didn’t threaten Forest much. He was substituted at half-time.

Jarrod Bowen – 6

The England international tried to bring control in the opposition half. He gave the ball away once and handed Forest an opportunity, but the hosts didn’t capitalise on it. After the break, the 27-year-old remained one of the few threats for the Irons.
