West Ham United: David Moyes will be ‘spitting chips’ after what Sky pundit noticed v Burnley

West Ham manager David Moyes would have been “spitting chips” at half-time of the match against Burnley.

That is according to Sky Sports pundit Aaron McLean after the Clarets went into the break on Sunday (10 March) with a 2-0 lead.

The London Stadium played host to the Premier League clash, which finished 2-2 after goals from Lucas Paqueta and Danny Ings secured a comeback following David Datro Fofana’s opener and an own goal from Konstantinos Mavropanos.

“Mavropanos has just put the ball into his own net and it’s absolutely woeful from West Ham,” McLean said on Sky Sports News (2:46pm, 10 March).

“They allow Burnley to just pop a few passes, all of a sudden a little ball just gets slipped in behind, cut back, and Mavropanos puts it into his own net, and David Moyes will be spitting chips at half-time.”

West Ham recover to secure point against Burnley at the London Stadium

The visitors shocked everyone inside the London Stadium with their early opener, with Fofana smashing the ball past Alphonse Areola from range.

And they turned that 1-0 lead into a 2-0 lead right before the first half through a disappointing own goal from Mavropanos.

But second half goals from Paqueta and Ings secured a comeback and a point for the hosts, who will be disappointed with the result despite coming from behind.

That disappointment will come given how Burnley have been very poor this season, with the Clarets struggling in the relegation zone.

The point leaves West Ham sitting seventh in the Premier League table, with Burnley occupying 19th spot, level on points with rock-bottom Sheffield United.

The fixtures come thick and fast for Moyes and his players, with their Europa League round of 16 second leg clash with SC Freiburg up next.

The London Stadium is again the venue for that one on Thursday (14 March), with the German side going into the game with a 1-0 aggregate lead after their meeting in Germany last Thursday (7 March).

In other West Ham news, Moyes and Tim Steidten must agree on a deal for one star man as £45million transfer news emerges.
