West Ham United: George Earthy injury update shared after Fulham defeat at London Stadium

Malik Ouzia has confirmed that George Earthy is conscious following the horrible incident that took place late on in the West Ham versus Fulham game.

The youngster came on as a second-half substitute in Sunday’s (14 April) 2-0 loss for what was his Premier League debut.

However, the 19-year-old was on the field for just 10 minutes before being stretchered off following a collision with team-mate Edson Alvarez.

Earthy was knocked unconscious, but a positive update has now been shared by Standard journalist Ouzia via his personal X account [14 April].

“Confirmed that George Earthy is conscious,” Ouzia posted.

George Earthy stretchered off for West Ham v Fulham

The incident involving Earthy and Alvarez was hugely concerning for all those watching the match, whether in attendance at London Stadium or further afield.

Earthy went to ground just three minutes after coming on for what should have been the proudest moment of his career to date.

The most important thing is that the teenager is now stable. West Ham earlier confirmed in a statement he would undergo tests at a London hospital.

David Moyes added at his post-match press conference that it was indeed a head injury. Full credit must go to the medical staff for how quickly they raced onto the field.

Moyes also hailed Earthy for his “terrific” cameo, even if it only lasted a few minutes. It is a massive shame that he had to go off, but the academy product will hopefully be back in a claret and blue shirt one day soon.

For now, everyone associated with West Ham wishes him the speediest of recoveries.
