Wan-Bissaka astonishes live on Sky Sports after what West Ham ace did v Brighton
Sue Smith was almost speechless after Aaron Wan-Bissaka made a heroic goalline clearance as West Ham drew 1-1 with Brighton on Saturday.
The Seagulls were pushing for a winner at the London Stadium on 21 December, only denied by the incredible defending from the former Manchester United full-back, seeing him end up in the net himself.
Already into the allotted six minutes of added time, the 27-year-old threw his body on the line to preserve a point after Mohammed Kudus cancelled out Mats Wieffer’s opener.
Speaking live via Sky Sports [21 December, 4:59pm], Smith said: “It’s Wan-Bissaka. It’s a brilliant clearance from him. Brighton are really pushing, with Encisco crossing the ball into the middle.
“You think Lamptey is just going to head it into the back of the net. It’s absolutely brilliant defending from Wan-Bissaka, who just gets to the ball ahead of Lamptey, and they both collide.”
Aaron Wan-Bissaka continues to impress at West Ham United
Wan-Bissaka has been an incredible addition to the Hammers squad, and for only £15million this summer [BBC Sport], he has already paid off that price tag at the London Stadium.
Putting his body on the line in the final minute of the 1-1 draw, almost confirming a precious point for Julen Lopetegui’s side, is a testament to the kind of player he is.
The Hammers already suffered a body blow after Enes Unal’s wonderful free-kick when facing Bournemouth last time out, and a late winner for the Seagulls would have blown all wind from their sails.

A defeat likely would have piled all the pressure back on Lopetegui, who has faced a lot of criticism since replacing David Moyes in the summer, but his squad finally look to be finding their feet.
They are now eight points clear of the Premier League relegation zone after 17 matches, and considering how close they have come already this term, Wan-Bissaka has produced a huge moment.
In other West Ham news, one other star stunned in a “dangerous” first-half moment as the Hammers picked up a point against Brighton.
