Tony Gale slams West Ham United player after what happened v Brighton
Tony Gale slammed Lukasz Fabianski over his “poor” goalkeeping for West Ham that led to Brighton taking the lead.
Fabianski failed to deal with a ball into the box and Mats Wieffer turned home to give Brighton the lead in Saturday’s (21 December) contest, though West Ham did hit back to claim a 1-1 draw.
United felt Fabianski was impeded, but Gale disagreed and instead blamed the Pole for not doing more to prevent the goal.
“It’s a good decision [from the officials],” Gale said live on beIN SPORTS 1 [21 December, 4:17pm].
“It’s not a foul but rather poor goalkeeping from Fabianski and poor defending from West Ham.”
Lukasz Fabianski at fault for Brighton goal v West Ham
Julen Lopetegui will be furious at the manner of the goal conceded by the Irons early in the second half.
Full credit to the players for striking back swiftly, with Mohammed Kudus on the scoresheet to bail out Fabianski.
While it is true there was contact on the goalkeeper, there was not enough for him to completely lose his balance.
It was a rare off-moment for Fabianski as he has been superb in recent weeks. Indeed, Jeff Stelling was spot on with his comments earlier this week.
A point at home to Brighton is not the worst result in the world, though, and Lopetegui will now stay in the job post-Christmas.

This has been far from a vintage campaign for the Irons, but they are at least now making themselves tough to beat once again.
Fabianski will not want to watch back footage of the Brighton goal, but he has the experience to quickly bounce back.
