Tony Gale slams West Ham defenders in first half v Brentford

Tony Gale was not impressed by how the West Ham defenders reacted to allow Bryan Mbeumo to score Brentford’s opening goal.

The visiting Bees stung the London Stadium faithful when Ivan Toney’s rebounded effort was tapped in by Mbeumo.

Kurt Zouma failed to stop Toney from having a go at goal, and Ogbonna was slow to react to the ricocheted effort that was slotted in by Mbeumo.

Speaking on Premier League’s world feed, Gale, a Sky Sports pundit said, “This West Ham defence has been caught napping. You can see they’re all over the place here. A deserved goal for Brentford.”

Disappointing

The manner this Hammers side started the game was disappointing and deservedly saw Mbeumo score against them.

They did little to stop that Bees attack and were completely overpowered by the movement of the opposition.

Toney dropping deep offered plenty of nightmares to both Zouma and Ogbonna, and much like how he did against Arsenal on the first day of the season, Mbeumo capitalised on the English striker occupying the centre-backs.

David Moyes needs to have a go at his side at half-time and if he doesn’t, things are unlikely to change.

Only towards the end, we saw a fight of a fightback from them, but apart from that, it has been plain sailing for Thomas Frank’s men.

Michail Antonio has been a bystander in the final third and he needs to get more involved in this contest.
