Tim Sherwood has head in his hands after what he saw West Ham player do vs Tottenham
Nuno Espirito Santo will be thankful that his West Ham players managed to get the job done against Tottenham despite missing big chances.
Tottenham hosted West Ham in North London on Saturday, as the Hammers dramatically pulled out a stoppage-time winner courtesy of Callum Wilson.
The result was crucial, as West Ham are facing a serious threat of relegation this season, and are now three points ahead of Burnley, who sit in 19th place.
Nuno has been under severe pressure, but the win will have given the West Ham boss some much-needed breathing space.
However, the Portuguese head coach will be thankful that Taty Castellanos‘ first-half miss didn’t come back to haunt the Hammers.
Tim Sherwood couldn’t believe Taty Castellanos’ first-half miss
West Ham splashed around £26million on Castellanos to bring the striker to the London Stadium from Lazio this month.
The Argentine scored in the Irons’ 2-1 FA Cup win over QPR on Sunday, but he was unable to continue scoring in consecutive games after missing a big chance from a first-half West Ham corner.
Speaking live on Sky Sports, Tim Sherwood couldn’t believe his eyes at Castellanos’ golden opportunity to put West Ham 2-0 up at the time.
Sherwood said: “Oh what a chance for West Ham. The corner comes in and it’s flicked on to the back post for Castellanos. He’s four yards out and has to score.”

The Irons will watch closely, as Castellanos was supposed to be their saviour signing this window, but so far, he’s looking far from that.
Stats prove that Pablo also failed to inspire vs Spurs
In a bid to keep the Hammers up this season, David Sullivan also forked out a big chunk of money on Pablo, bringing the number nine in from Gil Vicente.
Pablo and Castellanos cost a combined total of over £40million, but the West Ham fans may not be fully convinced by the pair yet.
- Pablo played 78 minutes
- He had a passing accuracy of 50%
- Pablo lost 11 of his duels
The Brazilian’s readings from the game against Spurs show that he will need more time to adapt to life in the Premier League, when there’s not a lot of it for West Ham.
However, Nuno will ultimately have to persist with his options up top, because the reality is, he has no one else.
