Supercomputer predicts result of Brighton vs West Ham in Premier League showdown
Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to get back to winning ways when West Ham travel to Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.
Nuno has certainly gotten a tune out of his players, and West Ham’s 1-1 draw with Man United proved this team is more than capable of staying in the Premier League.
West Ham lost 3-2 to Brighton in their last meeting, and the result typified the poor record the Hammers have against Sunday’s opponents, winning just one of their previous 16 encounters.
West Ham are embroiled in a relegation battle, and they’ll need to be at their best against a Brighton side that is pushing for European qualification this season.

Brighton predicted as heavy favourites to beat West Ham
Despite losing their last match 4-3 at home to Aston Villa, the Seagulls are flying high at the moment, and they go into the game with real confidence.
According to Opta‘s supercomputer, West Ham‘s winless run will continue on the south coast.
- Brighton have been given a 62.9 per cent chance of claiming the victory
- West Ham have a 17.4 per cent chance of securing a first away win under Nuno
- A draw has been given a 19.7 per cent probability of occurring
West Ham have scored two or more goals in four of their last six matches, and they could have joy against a defence that conceded four at home on Wednesday.
The Hammers haven’t won an away game under Nuno, and the 18th-placed side will need to win their first match away to Brighton since August 2023 if they want to boost their chances of survival.

Not much faith is placed in West Ham to avoid relegation, and the burden is placed on the out-of-form Jarrod Bowen to drag his side out of this mess.

What has happened to Jarrod Bowen’s goals and assists output?
Most supporters will agree that if it weren’t for Bowen’s goals over the years, they would have been at threat of relegation long before this season.
In that dramatic encounter with Brighton in April, Bowen provided two assists, and he is yet to replicate the form he has consistently shown since 2020.
The West Ham captain is clearly suffering from the team’s slow decline, and there are only so many years a player can overperform for his underperforming teammates.
| Stat | Jarrod Bowen |
| Appearances | 14 |
| Goals | 3 |
| Assists | 1 |
The 28-year-old went into the East London club’s history books for scoring the winning goal of the 2022-23 Conference League final, and it feels like a distant memory from the situation he currently faces.
It’s also clear that he is still adapting to Nuno’s system and is perhaps not as comfortable when isolated out wide.
There is no reason why he can’t hit a run of form across the festive period, and coming up against a Brighton defence that has conceded 21 goals could provide him with the perfect opportunity to return to his goalscoring ways.
Indeed, he impressed against Man United without making a concrete contribution, so fingers crossed he has something to show for his efforts this weekend.
