Stephen Warnock fumes at ‘lazy’ Alisson after needless moment in Liverpool vs West Ham
West Ham did not start well against Liverpool, but they nearly halved their 2-0 deficit with Alisson almost handing a goal to Jarrod Bowen.
Unfortunately for the East London side, the Anfield club would add a third before the half-time whistle.
However, Stephen Warnock was left fuming with the incident that took place with the score still at 2-0, blasting Liverpool’s goalkeeper for being “lazy” during that moment.
Overall, the Hammers’ performance was not reflective of the 3-0 scoreline, as they were creating plenty of chances, but Liverpool found the net with three set pieces.
Although, that one moment from Alisson could have resulted in an easy way back into the game for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

What did Alisson do wrong vs West Ham?
With Liverpool 2-0 up in the 30th minute, Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson had the ball at his feet as West Ham went to press.
Despite having plenty of time to deal with the ball, the Brazilian played a misplaced pass straight into the path of Bowen.
The Liverpool number one’s blushes were saved as the Irons captain was unable to keep control of the ball, and it went straight back to the goalkeeper.
Warnock, who is at Anfield for BBC Sport, was left in disbelief, blasting Alisson for the near-error.
He stated: “So complacent from Alisson. He thought it was a simple pass, and it was far too lazy and relaxed.”
For West Ham, the 3-0 goal lead from the hosts will be difficult to trim down, and they will be hoping more complacency lands their way to aid their efforts.
Why West Ham’s performance has been better than 3-0 at half-time
The Hammers could feel unlucky that they found themselves 3-0 down at the half-time whistle, as the xG for both sides was quite similar.
According to Sofascore, West Ham’s 0.6 xG was only slightly bettered by Liverpool’s 0.73 xG.
However, the Reds did have double the shots (10) compared to the Hammers (5), showing the Irons were creating better chances from their limited opportunities.
Questions will now certainly be asked of the London Stadium club’s defending, as all three of Liverpool’s goals could have been prevented with better organisation from the dead-ball situations.
