Nayef Aguerd ‘absolutely furious’ after incident in West Ham United 4-0 win v Nottingham Forest
Nayef Aguerd was “absolutely furious” after Felipe clattered Lukas Fabianski and forced him off injured in the 4-0 win for West Ham against Nottingham Forest.
The Hammers claimed a much-needed three points at the London Stadium as Danny Ings (2), Declan Rice and Michail Antonio found the net and moved the team out of the relegation zone.
But late on in the game goalkeeper Fabianski was forced off with a head injury after a clash with Forest defender Felipe, and journalist Jonty Colman shared Aguerd’s reaction to the incident on his personal Twitter account (25 February).
“Nayef Aguerd absolutely furious at Felipe, who catches Fabianski on the side of the head,” he wrote.
Alphonse Areola ended up replacing Fabianski due to the injury, and made a stunning stop late on to preserve the clean sheet.
In it together
Aguerd hasn’t been able to pull on the claret and blue too much since his move from Rennes in the summer, after several injury problems, but it’s clear that he gets it.
The Moroccan has been sensational whenever he has played, and clearly understands what it means to play for this club and how to wins the fans over.

His reaction the Fabianski incident shows that he is in the trenches with his teammates, ready to battle and go to war and had everyone shown that level of passion and understanding this season then we wouldn’t be in the position we’re in right now.
As it stands we got a huge result in the game and picked up a massive three points, but we can’t settle for that and must now kick on.
It’s a great building block and Aguerd is showing the sort of leadership that has been missing for much of this season, so maybe with him fit and firing we can get out of this mess.
