Mark Lawrenson predicts West Ham v Brentford scoreline

Mark Lawrenson predicts West Ham to record back-to-back Premier League victories on Sunday as they welcome Brentford to the London Stadium.

The Irons secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Leeds United last weekend to rise to sixth place after six games this season.

Brentford, meanwhile, produced the result of matchday six as they held Liverpool to a 3-3 draw in a pulsating encounter at the Brentford Community Stadium.

But writing his weekly predictions on the BBC Sport website, Lawrenson backs David Moyes’ side to put an end to the Bees’ three-game unbeaten run with a 2-0 win.

“Brentford look lively and have caused a few teams some problems already this season – including Liverpool last week,” Lawrenson said.

“But West Ham will have Michail Antonio leading their attack and, as good as the Bees are, I don’t see them keeping him quiet for 90 minutes.”

No Bees sting?

Brentford have proven themselves as a more than credible Premier League outfit since making their debut in the competition in August.

They are currently riding high in ninth place after losing just once in their first six games.

Only Manchester City [one], Chelsea [two] and Liverpool [four] have conceded fewer than Brentford’s total of five in the Premier League this season as Thomas Frank’s side prove a tough nut to crack.

But with Antonio spearheading the Irons attack on Sunday, the home side will be more than confident that they can breach the Bees backline and, heading into the October international break, potentially launch themselves into the Champions League spots.
