Mark Lawrenson predicts West Ham clash v Everton

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted a comfortable 2-0 home win for West Ham against Everton this weekend.

The Hammers, against all odds, are still in with a shout of finishing in the top four. However, for that, they would have to win all their games and hope Chelsea drop a few points from now until the end of the season.

It’s improbable, but it has got the fans hooked on and David Moyes is embracing the fight for Champions League football.

Lawrenson, in his column in the BBC, has gone for a routine West Ham win. He factored in Everton’s bad run of form of late and the fact that they’ve stumbled on these kinds of hurdles throughout the season.

He wrote, “West Ham were very impressive when they beat Burnley last weekend. I thought they were tailing off a bit after losing their previous two games, but they looked really strong at Turf Moor.

“Everton are much better on the road than they are at home but I think they are in for a difficult day in east London.

“The Hammers beat them at Goodison Park in January and I am expecting them to do the same at London Stadium on Sunday.”

West Ham

Come on you Irons

We’ve got Michail Antonio back and he fired a brace, showing he’s still got it. With him leading the line, other players can play in their preferred positions.

Jesse Lingard, Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen have been in good form of late while Said Benrahma is showing patches of brilliance he did in the Championship for Brentford in the last two seasons.

For this game, we’re missing Declan Rice, Arthur Masuaku and Angelo Ogbonna. Mark Noble is a doubt and will be assessed closer to kick-off.

No matter how this season ends, it’s been one of the best in recent times and we’re grateful to witness things unfold the way they have.

The last week of the season can’t come soon enough when the fans get back into the stadium and serenade the players for what’s been an unbelievable nine months.
