Mark Lawrenson predicts result of West Ham v Crystal Palace

Mark Lawrenson believes West Ham will see their winning run will come to an end when they travel to Selhurst Park on Tuesday night.

The BBC pundit has predicted a 1-1 draw when the Hammers meet Crystal Palace in South London, which would see an end to their perfect start to 2021.

Whilst giving his weekly predictions for the BBC, Lawrenson said he thinks having nine days off will benefit the hosts. The Eagles didn’t play in the FA Cup this weekend.

West Ham

He said, “West Ham are on a great run – they have not lost since before Christmas, have won their past three league games and are into the fifth round of the FA Cup.

“They are not just playing well, but they have become really difficult to beat. However, Crystal Palace are also awkward opposition, especially at home.

“The Eagles have had a little break too – they last played against Manchester City on 17 January, so they will be ready for this one.”

West Ham

Tuesday’s fixture will be the Hammers’ 20th of the season, three points would take them to fourth in the table on 35 points.

David Moyes will be well aware of what’s at stake this evening. Moving up to fourth, even if it’s just for a day, will send a message to the teams around us that we’re looking to push for Europe.

Palace aren’t to be taken lightly, however. The 1-1 draw at the London Stadium in December was a particularly poor performance and we were fortunate to take a point.

West Ham

The Eagles have enjoyed taking points from us in the past few seasons. Roy Hodgson will be keen to get a win and build some momentum, they have a favourable run of games over the coming weeks.

If recent form is anything to go by, there is definitely reason to be confident going into this one for us Hammers.
