West Ham United ended their season in disappointing fashion on Sunday, labouring to a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at the London Stadium.

The Irons had sealed their survival in the game before Sunday, drawing 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford, and that was clear in this finale.

It was though, one last chance for players to convince David Moyes that they should be part of his squad for next season.

One player who may not have taken that opportunity is Ryan Fredericks, the defender still not convincing fans that he is the right man for the job.

Ben Johnson has come in at left-back recently and certain groups of the fan base had started to question whether or not he would be better replacing Fredericks.

The 27-year-old does average three tackles per game according to WhoScored, and although that is impressive, it doesn’t cover up some of his mistakes.

Take the draw with Villa, for example, Fredericks let Jack Grealish go round the outside of him far too easily on numerous occasions, getting a booking for a shocking tackle on the playmaker when he should have just stood him up.

With both Pablo Zabaleta and Jeremy Ngakia leaving the London Stadium this season, Moyes will need to bring in more competition for that spot.

Many West Ham fans destroyed Fredericks for his performance on Sunday, with many claiming once again that he is nowhere near good enough for the Premier League.
