Lopetegui makes Summerville and Fullkrug decision for West Ham United v Celta Vigo

Julen Lopetegui has handed a first start to Guido Rodriguez for West Ham United’s friendly v Celta Vigo but Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug were both named among the substitutes.

The club’s official X account posted the team news for the fixture at the London Stadium on Saturday (10 August) with Argentina midfielder Rodriguez starting for the first time.

However, fellow new boys Summerville and Fullkrug were only included on the bench meaning Hammers supporters will have to wait to see if they come off the bench.

Excitement building at West Ham

It has been an extremely exciting summer at the London Stadium with the Hammers spending big to bring the likes of Summerville, Fullkrug, Max Kilman and Luis Guilherme to the club.

With Jean-Clair Todibo joining and Aaron Wan-Bissaka seemingly on his way to East London as well, then Hammers supporters have every right to head into the new campaign with a high sense of optimism.

Today’s clash will give a good indication of where Julen Lopetegui’s side are ahead of the new Premier League campaign and hopefully they can get a good result against La Liga opposition to take some confidence into their top-flight opener against Aston Villa next weekend.

Hopefully there will also be a glimpse of Summerville and Fullkrug off the bench with supporters itching to see what the new boys can bring to the table.

But, either way, the excitement for the proper action is really building and understandably so.
