Julen Lopetegui has made just one change for West Ham in their clash with Newcastle on Monday night with Carlos Soler replacing Guido Rodriguez in midfield.

The Irons announced their lineup for their encounter with Newcastle (25 November) in a social media post on their X account.

Other than Soler replacing Rodriguez, Lopetegui has picked the same side that failed to beat Everton before the international break.

Julen Lopetegui needs a win to save West Ham job

After it emerged last week that the Irons had conducted internal checks on a potential successor for the Spaniard, the importance of a win against Newcastle was ramped up.

Failure to do so could be the end of the line for Lopetegui, who has been under growing pressure for several weeks.

Going into the encounter at St James' Park, the Hammers sit miserably down in 14th having won just three Premier League fixtures since the start of the season and with two tricky clashes approaching, a club announcement on Lopetegui seems almost inevitable.

Performance levels will have to increase drastically if the Irons are to have any chance of a result against the Magpies and with a home encounter at Arsenal after, it simply cannot be overstated just how vital a win will be for the Hammers boss.

Albeit with a game in hand on many above, Newcastle are just four points away from Champions League spots and they will be up for it against West Ham.
