Lopetegui could be sacked after Souček call – West Ham confirmed XI v Wolves
Julen Lopetegui’s decision to start Tomáš Souček for West Ham against Wolves could cost him his job.
Lopetegui’s side are set to host Gary O’Neil’s men at the London Stadium in the Premier League, with both managers at risk of facing the sack should their side taste defeat on Monday [9 December].
Therefore, the pressure is truly on Lopetegui ahead of this huge clash, especially with Graham Potter lurking in the background and ready to take over as West Ham boss, at least until the end of the season [via talkSPORT, 9 December].
As a result, Lopetegui could regret his decision to start Souček, a decision confirmed via the club’s official X account [9 December], as not only could it cost the Hammers the three points, but it could also cost the 58-year-old his job at the London Stadium.
Julen Lopetegui to be sacked if West Ham lose against Wolves?
Chris Sutton has tipped West Ham to have the edge over Wolves on Monday evening, which could spell trouble for O’Neil.
However, Souček’s involvement could change that. The midfielder is usually such a reliable player for the Hammers, but he wasn’t at his best in the 3-1 Premier League defeat against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday [3 December].
As per Sofascore, the 29-year-old completed just 67 per cent of his passes, with only one of those key, while his one cross into the box was inaccurate.
In addition, four of his five shots at goal were off target, while the other one was blocked. He did make one clearance, however, he also won just one of his three ground duels.

Therefore, Lopetegui will be hoping Souček is in much better form tonight, as a subpar performance from any of his players could prove costly.
In other West Ham news, the club must consider the sale of one £85million-rated player amid January interest.
