Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp makes David Moyes admission ahead of West Ham United clash
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp joked that he wanted West Ham to keep hold of David Moyes so that he doesn’t become the oldest manager in the league.
At the start of the season, the German realised he was the second oldest in the Premier League, but managerial changes have ensured that it’s no longer the case.
He then offered words of praise for the Hammers manager ahead of their clash on Wednesday, 26 April, at the London Stadium.
He said, via Football Daily, “If West Ham would’ve sacked David Moyes, I would’ve been the oldest manager in the Premier League.
“Someone told me at the start of the season that I was second oldest, so since I had my fingers crossed.
“David has to stay. I know for him seven years now and he’s a top colleague and he’s doing a great job. Things like this can happen.”
Needs to leave at the end of the season
Unless things suddenly go south, West Ham are expected to be clear of relegation trouble and a few more points should be enough for them.
However, a potential European trophy should not take away from the fact that the team has regressed in the league under Moyes.
With Declan Rice set to leave and perhaps a couple of other fringe players following him out of the door, a rebuild will need to start this summer.

There are progressive managers in the market who will be looking for a job and the prospect of working in London and managing in Europe, should West Ham win the conference league, will undoubtedly be encouraging.
There will also be money to spend as Declan Rice is expected to break the club record sale numbers and that money can be handed to a new manager to spend.
Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter’s name has been thrown in the mix and in our view, he would be a perfect appointment.
