Kris Boyd astonished by ‘unbelievable’ Soucek moment in Brighton v West Ham
Kris Boyd could not believe his eyes as West Ham succumbed to a 3-2 defeat against Brighton on Saturday.
Brighton added to West Ham’s woes under Graham Potter by resigning them to yet another Premier League defeat at the Amex Stadium on 26 April.
The Irons are now stuck in 17th place in the table, and are perhaps lucky that three teams have already been relegated.
What is more disappointing is the fact that Mohammed Kudus and Tomas Soucek did well to put the Hammers in front, only for late goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Carlos Baleba to ruin their day.

Boyd reacts to what Soucek did v Brighton in first half
The game between Brighton and West Ham certainly was not short of big moments, not least because of the five goals.
Soucek notably came close to nullifying Yasin Ayari’s early opener in the first half after getting on the end of a lovely cross from Max Kilman, only to be denied by an extraordinary save from Bart Verbruggen.
Reacting to the incident on Sky Sports News, Boyd was blown away by Kilman’s cross and Soucek’s subsequent header towards the goal.
Minutes | Total Shots | Accurate Passes | Touches | Accurate Long Balls | Tackles Won | Defensive Actions | Duels Won |
90′ | 3 | 22/26 (85%) | 42 | 2/2 (100%) | 1/4 (25%) | 11 | 8/10 (80%) |
However, the shot was topped by Verbruggen’s save, leaving the pundit astonished live on air.
“Oh, it’s Verbruggen, what a save it is as well”, Boyd said on Soccer Saturday (26 April, 3:32 pm).
“Kilman just floats a lovely ball in, Soucek gets off the back of Lewis Dunk, and it’s an unbelievable header.
“What a save this is. I mean, it might be an unbelievable header, but it’s matched with the save.
“He just gets up, gets his fingertips to it, onto the bar and over. What a save to keep Brighton one-nil up.”

West Ham woes under Potter continue
Soucek later had his moment, as he nodded West Ham into a lead in the 83rd minute, thanks to a cross from Jarrod Bowen. However, it was not to be.
Mitoma drew Brighton level six minutes later, while Baleba grabbed the winner for the hosts two minutes into added time.
With that, West Ham have now lost eight of their 15 games since Potter replaced Julen Lopetegui in January.
It is also worth noting that the East London outfit are winless in seven matches, with their last victory coming over Leicester in February.
There are increasing doubts about Potter’s ability to take the Hammers forward after managing only three wins in his 15 games.
That means the former Chelsea boss only has a win record of 20 per cent, which is terrible for any manager at the London Stadium.
