Karren Brady savages West Ham target Marko Arnautovic

West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has slammed Marko Arnautovic’s conduct when he left the club for a more lucrative offer in China.

The East London outfit have been linked with a plethora of strikers in the past few weeks. One name that has made the back pages ever so often is that of former Hammers forward Arnautovic.

The Austrian has been praised recently by Moyes amid reports that he will be willing to take a pay cut to move to the London Stadium this summer.

However, he cut a frustrated figure during his final days at the club during his first stint which led to a disgruntled dressing room and a fanbase divided over the player.

While Moyes may fancy bringing him back to the club, Brady is unlikely to want the striker on her club’s payroll.

Ahead of West Ham’s game against Southampton on the final day of the season, she wrote in The Sun, “The Austrian and his feckless agent-brother decided riches offered by Shanghai SIPG overbid the recent contract he had signed at West Ham and consequently there was a bad atmosphere around. Again, we were forced to let him go.

“Arnautovic has now done his Marco Polo exploration to China and wants to return home. A football club is actually a delicate mechanism, built on trust and team integrity. Every man or woman must pull their weight or the edifice falls, sometimes to the division below.

“Nothing cracks the walls like the fakers of injury and non-triers whose disruption stems from wanting their own way.”

Some statement

Brady has set the marking down and probably sent a message to Moyes saying that Arnautovic is unlikely to be welcomed by the higher-ups at the club.

At 32, he doesn’t make a practical case either, as the club should be looking for younger options that will be here for the years to come.

Moyes may be sentimental about his past equation with the player but it’s important he realises that Arnautovic isn’t the man to help take us to the next level.

We would rather not sign a striker than have his divisive presence in the dressing room, especially at a time when everything appears to be harmonious behind the scenes.
