Jeff Stelling concerned for West Ham after something ‘seriously scary’ he’s seen pre-Brentford

West Ham need to return with a win when they face Brentford on Monday evening.

West Ham went into the international break as relegation contenders, sitting 19th in the Premier League table after a dismal run of results.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been unable to turn around West Ham’s form so far, since replacing Graham Potter, who was sacked on 27 September.

They need to secure victory at the London Stadium on 20 October and get their season back on track.

Stelling is scared by what he has seen from West Ham

West Ham have had a dismal defensive record so far this season, and Jeff Stelling has picked up on that fact.

Stelling made his prediction for the clash with the Bees, and brought up the Hammers’ woes at the back to justify his claim that they would be defeated.

Speaking in his predictions video for talkSPORT on 16 October, he said: “Monday night football closes out the action as West Ham face Brentford.

“West Ham have shown flickers of life under Nuno, but 10 goals conceded in three home games, that is seriously scary.

“Brentford’s away form this season is not all that either, but they have scored in 14 consecutive Premier League away games.

“I think the patient still needs more treatment from Dr. Nuno, before any real improvement is seen, I’m going West Ham 1-2 Brentford.”

West Ham need to get fans back on board with Brentford win

The backlash behind the scenes in East London is potentially even scarier than what Stelling has highlighted.

West Ham supporters plan to hold a boycott and embarrass the board in front of the millions watching at home.

David Sullivan and Karren Brady are the ultimate target of protests, with fans not enjoying the way that they have ran the club in recent years.

However, positive results and climbing back up the table will surely bring the fanbase back on side, and stop any potential action.

The longer that the Hammers look to be genuine contenders for the drop, the worse that demonstrations and hostility will get, so they need to get points on the board.

They can start with victory against their fellow Londoners, which could give the E20 outfit a platform to build on, and get everyone on the same page for the first time in a long time.
