Jarrod Bowen transfer claim made live on air in West Ham draw v Southampton

Jarrod Bowen scored for West Ham United as they drew 1-1 against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The London Stadium hosted Simon Rusk’s team on 19 April, snatching a point in the dying minutes of the game after Lesley Ugochukwu’s strike.

Graham Potter has struggled since replacing Julen Lopetegui, and things were no different for the English manager against the Saints.

The home fans were booing their team at half-time, and despite Bowen’s brilliance, the Irons failed to hold on to a win.

West Ham don’t deserve Bowen as he’s too good

Bowen is too good to be at the East London club, Adrian Durham says.

The talkSPORT journalist believes the England international shouldn’t be “slumming” it at the Hammers as they sit towards the bottom of the table in the Premier League.

Durham thinks the London Stadium faithful will also acknowledge that the 28-year-old shouldn’t be at a team struggling.

Speaking on talkSPORT (19 April, 16:04), the journalist said: “Hammers fans won’t like it, but deep down they know it’s right, that Bowen is so good he shouldn’t be slumming it fourth-bottom in the Premier League table. He’s just way too good.”

David Sullivan must make changes at London Stadium next summer

Potter was supposed to turn the tide at the London Stadium, but the English manager has continued to fail like Lopetegui.

While the performances under the former Chelsea boss have been relatively better, the results haven’t been good enough.

The 49-year-old has struggled to string a consistent run at the Hammers, and fans will ask questions if things don’t change.

West Ham are 16th in the Premier League after facing Southampton, although Wolves have a chance to go above them if they get a positive result against Manchester United on Sunday (20 April).

David Sullivan arguably made the wrong call by letting David Moyes go, who is thriving at Everton, and the East London outfit’s chairman may be forced into another managerial change before the end of the campaign.

The recruitment last summer seemed encouraging, but most of the players have failed to hit the ground running, and it will be interesting to see what the Irons will do in the upcoming transfer window.

While Premier League relegation is unlikely at the London Stadium, the likes of Bowen could potentially ask for an exit to fulfil their ambitions elsewhere.
