Jamie Carragher tears ’embarrassing’ West Ham United to shreds after what he saw v Liverpool live on Sky Sports
Jamie Carragher has slaughtered West Ham for their abject performance in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals as they lost 5-1 at Liverpool on Wednesday night.
Despite not really having anything to play for in the league, David Moyes opted to name a weakened side for the last-eight showdown at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp didn’t go gung-ho in his approach to the game but Liverpool’s team, mixed with youngsters and fringe players, tore the Irons to shreds throughout the 90 minutes.

West Ham collapsed late on, conceding three times within 13 minutes, leading to Carragher blasted them on Sky Sports after Curtis Jones’ goal.
Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event on Wednesday night (09:41pm, 20 December), Carragher said: “How embarrassing have West Ham been tonight? I mean, look at that. That’s shocking.
“Brilliant from [Jones], there’s no doubt he’s worked his way back into Liverpool’s best 11 and he’ll be playing against Arsenal at 5:30pm on Saturday. He has to.
“What a goal that is, he’ll be delighted. It might be the best goal he’s scored at Anfield yet.
“It’s no doubt been Liverpool’s night but that’s absolutely criminal from West Ham. Nowhere near good enough.”

Horrific
Moyes’ approach to this game stunk.
We’ve always stuck up for the Scot this season despite some questionable performances in the Premier League.
Fans have their right to voice an opinion on Moyes but we just haven’t agreed with any kind of clamour for him to go when he’s not long won us major silverware and overseen multiple seasons in European football.
Before the trip to Anfield, we were in a Europa League last-16 draw and a quarter-final of a winnable Carabao Cup.
But guess what? Moyes showed no interest in winning the latter by leaving players like James Ward-Prowse and Lucas Paqueta on the bench on Merseyside.
Why? We’re not competing for anything in the league and, as shown last season, we’ll all take a poor league campaign if we can win a cup competition.
It was idiotic to prioritise the game against Manchester United on Saturday over this game. Absolutely idiotic.
There’ll be more pressure on Moyes now and we’re inclined to start agreeing with people that he’s not going to take us any further forward with stupid decisions like his starting line-up on Wednesday at Liverpool.
