Jamie Carragher sends message to West Ham United minutes ahead of kick-off v Fiorentina

Former Liverpool defender-turned-pundit Jamie Carragher has given West Ham his support as they get set to take the stage for the UEFA Conference League final against Fiorentina.

Carragher has taken to his personal Twitter page, which has over two million followers, to make his allegiance clear ahead of Wednesday night’s showpiece in Prague.

“I’d love West Ham to win the UEFA Conference League tonight,” Carragher tweeted on 7 June.

“Too many clubs in England have gone generations without lifting a trophy, so it would be nice to see West Ham put that to bed. Only four clubs in Europe can win a trophy each season, so this trophy is well worth winning for any English club taking part!”

Carra behind the Hammers

With kick-off in Prague now fast approaching, West Ham will be fully focussed on the task at hand, with the eleven players taking the field tonight having an opportunity to make history.

And based on the replies to Carragher’s tweet, plenty of other fans share his view ahead of the game. An English club lifting a European trophy will be a positive site for all associated with the Premier League and a lot of fans will most likely be cheering West Ham on.

The Hammers will be full of confidence going into the game and many on the pitch, including captain Declan Rice, will be desperate at the chance to lift some silverware, something the club has not done for a very long time.

It is just a matter of hours now until the winners of the competition will be lifting the trophy, whether it be West Ham or Fiornetina, and of course, by winning either club will also book their place in next season’s UEFA Europa League.

if West Ham does reach the Europa League, they will be playing in the competition with Liverpool next season.

Not so sure Carragher will still be supporting the Hammers if that is the case!
