Injury and suspension latest as nine players could miss out in West Ham vs Brentford

West Ham will turn their attention to the FA Cup when they welcome Brentford in the fifth round, but a number of players could miss out through injury.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side will be buoyant after their crucial 1-0 victory at Fulham on Wednesday night, a significant boost to their Premier League survival bid.

The Hammers delivered a much-improved performance and deservedly took all three points after Crysencio Summerville’s 65th-minute winner at Craven Cottage.

But Brentford are in the midst of a surprise push for Europe under Keith Andrews this season, a far cry from predictions that they would be relegated, and will pose a stern test.

Here, West Ham Zone rounds up the latest injury news for both outfits.

In a significant boost to Nuno, the West Ham boss has almost a full squad to choose from. However, with Manchester City up next weekend, he could ring the changes.

Freddie Potts is back in contention, having served out his three-match suspension after being sent off against Burton Albion in the FA Cup fourth round.

But there was no such good news for January signing Pablo, despite his steady progress from a calf injury he sustained after making just six appearances.

Pablo has missed the last five matches and is being assessed day by day by medical staff, but Nuno is unlikely to want to rush him back earlier than necessary.

Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is nursing a back issue, with no return date set.

Both Alphonse Areola and Soungoutou Magassa could be handed starts at the London Stadium, while a late decision will be made on Pablo’s availability.

Brentford in midst of injury crisis vs West Ham

The injury picture is much bleaker for Brentford.

Andrews confirmed Rico Henry sustained another brutal setback after pulling his hamstring against Bournemouth, and he will miss at least several weeks.

The full-back has joined Fabio Carvalho, Antoni Milambo and Josh Dasilva, all of whom are long-term absentees, on the treatment table.

Reiss Nelson could be in contention against West Ham, and will be given a late fitness test, but the tie will likely come too soon for Vitaly Janelt and Aaron Hickey.

Like Nuno, Andrews may be tempted to shuffle his pack, potentially handing opportunities to the likes of Keane Lewis-Potter, Ethan Pinnock and Hakon Valdimarsson.
