Henry Winter blown away by ‘dynamo’ Jarrod Bowen in West Ham v Leicester

Henry Winter waxed lyrical about a “great” Evan Ferguson moment he witnessed as Jarrod Bowen starred in a 2-0 win for West Ham against Leicester on Thursday.

West Ham built on their 1-0 victory over Arsenal by cruising to a comfortable win against Leicester at the London Stadium on 27 February, thanks to a goal from Tomas Soucek and an own goal from Jannik Vestergaard.

Bowen was heavily involved once again as it was his shot that Vestergaard turned into his net just before half-time, while also creating a goalscoring chance for substitute Ferguson later.

While the England international will be disappointed with the goal being taken off him, there is no denying that he was one of the reliable performers for Graham Potter.

Bowen wows Winter with ‘outstanding’ performance

Winter was so impressed with Bowen’s performance that he took to social media to heap praise on the former Hull City forward, lauding his performance as “outstanding”.

The journalist opined that Bowen deserved the credit for West Ham’s second which was given as a Vestergaard own goal before using more adjectives, including “dynamo” to describe the player.

He also used the opportunity to aim a dig at the Leicester players, insisting that Bowen showed more commitment than them.

“Jarrod Bowen outstanding again”, Winter wrote on X (27 February).

“Involved in both West Ham United goals (and surely deserved crediting with the second).

“Leader, dynamo, also created a great chance for Evan Ferguson, and showed a commitment lacking in Leicester City.”

West Ham steer clear of Premier League relegation zone

West Ham were notably winless in their four Premier League games before their trip to Arsenal on Saturday, 22 February.

However, having won two games on the trot, Potter and Co have moved further away from the relegation zone, climbing above 16th-placed Everton.

The Irons will look to take their winning streak to three games when they host Newcastle at the London Stadium on 10 March.

With games against Everton, Wolves, Southampton and Ipswich also coming up, the East London outfit are increasingly certain to avoid relegation – a concern that emerged under Julen Lopetegui.

Meanwhile, Bowen could earn himself a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming international break in March, having impressed under Potter in recent games.

The 28-year-old has eight goals and four assists to his name in 25 appearances across all competitions this term.
