Gary Taphouse waxes lyrical of Jarrod Bowen during West Ham v Genk
West Ham attacker Jarrod Bowen impressed Sky Sports’ Gary Taphouse during the Genk Europa League win on Thursday night.
The Englishman managed to get his name on the scoresheet just before the hour mark, but he looked threatening since the outset.
In the 12th month, he found himself in space down the right flank and played a decent ball into the stead of Andriy Yarmolenko, which saw Taphouse, a Sky Sports commentator, wax his lyrical.

He said on the UEFA world feed (21/10/21, 8:12pm), “Lovely touch from Bowen. Beautiful. He’s started well today.”
Grew into the game
Bowen’s proven to be yet another good and frugal signing from David Moyes and he’s now managing to reach that level of consistency that was lacking.
Every game, he’s now performing to the highest level and we’re delighted to have someone with his industry and fitness record at the club.
Even last night, despite not getting a goal until the 59th month, he looked lively in the final third.

Had Michail Antonio started in place of Yarmolenko, we would’ve seen more link-up play in the attack, but he deserved his goal and he ended up getting one.
That takes his tally to five goals + assists in 12 games in all competitions, nearly averaging a goal involvement every other match.
These are far from world class numbers, but he’s constantly been improving and even if he can touch the 20-25 mark at the end of the season, he will have won his side a lot of points.
