Gabby Agbonlahor slams West Ham ‘Coward’ after what happened v Aston Villa

Gabby Agbonlahor slammed Lucas Paqueta for allegedly diving after an altercation with Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne left the West Ham star on the floor.

The Irons went 1-0 down after just eight minutes when Jacob Ramsey scored to put the Villains ahead although Emerson rescued a point in a 1-1 draw at Villa Park on 26 January.

At the end of the first half, tensions appeared to be high and there was an altercation between the two opposing players which ended with Paqueta on the floor although VAR ruled against any further action.

Agbonlahor was unhappy with the way events played out though as he slammed Paqueta, posting on X (26 January): “Paqueta you little diving coward. Shame on you.”

Lucas Paqueta coward after West Ham controversy

Paqueta isn’t usually far away from drama and he certainly proved that again at Villa when he found himself on the floor calling for Digne to be sent off for violent conduct.

However, the referee and VAR look to have made the correct decision by not giving out a card and allowing the game to continue, with everyone needing to move on.

It proved to be a fairly feisty affair on the afternoon and the Hammers playmaker and Digne were at each other throughout the game, trying to get each other booked by the looks of things.

Graham Potter will have been pleased to see his side get themselves back into the game and come away with a point after a well-worked goal between Edson Alvarez and Emerson.

The boss may not feel like he got his full revenge for the FA Cup defeat but nevertheless, it’s a step in the right direction for the Irons.
