‘Different story’ – Mark Lawrenson predicts West Ham clash v Manchester City
Mark Lawrenson has backed West Ham United to pick up a single point against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
The BBC pundit believes that the Irons will continue their run of positive results after their amazing comeback against Spurs last week.
West Ham come into this game with a full-strength side, with Pep Guardiola suffering from a number of injuries.
Lawrenson has predicted a 1-1 draw in his BBC Sport predictions column, backing the Irons to stifle the dangerous away side.
“Manchester City have an amazing record at London Stadium – they have won every time they’ve played there and, in sequence, the scorelines have been 5-0, 4-0, 4-1, 4-0 and 5-0,” he wrote.
“I think it will be a different story this time though. I am expecting a much closer game.
“West Ham come into the game on the back of their brilliant late comeback to draw with Tottenham, and there seems to be a good vibe around the club at the moment.”
This will be another hard task, and Moyes will know that his side can’t start the same way they did against Spurs last week.
Only Liverpool average more shots on goal per game according to WhoScored, and City have destroyed the Irons many times in the past few years.
If the Hammers can start the way they ended last week at the London Stadium, they will be in with a real chance of earning a positive result.
