Crysencio Summerville must be hooked at HT in West Ham v Bournemouth
Julen Lopetegui must consider swapping Crysencio Summerville for Mohammed Kudus for West Ham at half time if they want to secure a win against Bournemouth.
The Dutchman was handed his first start at the London Stadium on Wednesday night (28 August) as the Hammers looked to secure a place in the League Cup third round.
There was plenty of excitement surrounding the 22-year-old’s debut but he failed to show what he did so regularly at Leeds United.
This saw Summerville register just 13 touches of the ball in the opening 45 minutes in a disappointing display [FotMob].
Crysencio Summerville should be hooked at HT for West Ham v Bournemouth
If Lopetegui wants to make it back-to-back wins as head coach, after an opening-day defeat to Aston Villa, he needs to make big decisions.
Although it may prove to be an unpopular decision with the London Stadium faithful, taking off the new signing could help his side secure the victory.
Summerville struggled to get into the game and when he did, he didn’t make his impact felt with three misplaced passes while being dispossessed once.
His wayward shot from barely 12 yards out somewhat summed up his performance in the first half.
Bringing on the quality of Kudus at halftime to challenge the Bournemouth backline could change the game and alter the complexion of the tie.
The Cherries have had the better of the play throughout the first half with the home side being wasteful at times.

Adding the Ghanian into the mix could force Andoni Iraola’s men back and allow Lopetegui’s tactical approach to be shown off better.
This may prove to be harsh on Summerville but could be a match-winning decision in the end.
