Chris Sutton shares West Ham United fan reaction to David Moyes after loss v Wolves

Chris Sutton has shared that there was “a lot of anger” in the West Ham away section directed at David Moyes following their 1-0 defeat to Wolves.

The Hammers were poor as they fell to yet another defeat, which saw them drop into the relegation zone at the halfway point of the season following no wins since October.

With a huge clash against Everton set for next weekend and both Moyes and Lampard under pressure for their jobs, Sutton told BT Sport Score (14 January, 5:09pm) that it wouldn’t be a surprise if both got sacked this week after admitting the fans weren’t warm towards the Scot after the game.

“West Ham, there is an argument that both teams may go into that game (vs Everton) managerless,” he said.

“Just watching David Moyes at the end of the game go over to the West Ham supporters and they certainly weren’t applauding back.

“A lot of anger from the West Ham away fans and I think David Moyes needs time, as I think Frank Lampard needs time.”

Deserved

The anger directed towards Moyes is fully deserved, because West Ham have been an absolute mess for over a year now in the league.

The form the club showed in Europe last season papered over the cracks, and many people believed that it was because we were prioritising a run in the Europa League with our Premier League position safe and seen as successful.

But this season there is no such excuse and the performances are arguably even worse, considering the £170m worth of investment in the summer, where top players simply aren’t performing for the manager.

Moyes has had his chance to turn things around and has used up all the credit he had in the bank with fans after his performance as manager since returning.

It’s clearly not working now and it’s time for him to move on and leave, because at this rate we will be a Championship club come May and that simply isn’t good enough.
