Carragher delivers Julen Lopetegui verdict ahead of West Ham v Wolves
Jamie Carragher believes the situation at West Ham is worse than at Wolves.
Julen Lopetegui and Gary O’Neil are both under pressure ahead of the clash between their two sides at the London Stadium on Monday [9 December].
However, Carragher, speaking ahead of the match [via Sky Sports Premier League on X, 9 December], thinks there is more pressure on Lopetegui, who could be replaced by Graham Potter.
“I actually think the situation is actually worse for the West Ham manager,” Carragher said.
“I expected Wolves to be in a dogfight this season, considering they lost [Max] Kilman and Neto, two of their best players. In terms of, if you’re talking about pressure on the jobs, I think a lot more was expected of West Ham.”

It goes without saying that the Hammers have underperformed this season, especially when you consider some of the players that Lopetegui has at his disposal.
Therefore, if the club are to suffer yet another home defeat on Monday evening, it could spell the end for the 58-year-old at the London Stadium, and a team selection decision made by Lopetegui ahead of the clash could prove costly.
However, Wolves are also struggling this season and are currently sat 19th in the Premier League. Therefore, if there was ever a match for a manager to save his job, this would be it.
Lopetegui needs his players to turn up, and more importantly, he needs to get the home support on his side early on in the match. It is a high-pressure game on Monday, therefore, a slow start could work against the Hammers.
However, Lopetegui has turned things around once with his back against the wall this season, and he will be looking to do it again against Wolves and start to slowly prove Carragher wrong.
