‘Big moment for the lad’ – Some West Ham fans react as Ben Johnson scores v Brighton

After scoring his first goal for the club against Brighton some West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to praise the impact made by young defender Ben Johnson.

After falling behind to a first-half goal from Neal Maupay, the Hammers made a double switch at half-time, and it was a pass from one of the substitutes, Manuel Lanzini, that found 20-year-old Johnson, who slotted past Robert Sanchez in the Brighton net to equalise and record his first-ever professional goal.

Johnson, making his first Premier League start of the season in an unfamiliar left wing-back role, delighted fans of the Hammers, who must be revelling in a goal from a player who joined the club at the age of seven.

With Arthur Masuaku out for the fourth successive game for West Ham, a reshuffle was necessary as Moyes reverted to five defenders again.

Aaron Cresswell slotted in on the left-hand side of the three-man defence for the Hammers, with Johnson lining up in the left-wing back role.

This didn’t faze the youngster, however, as he stepped up to deliver an all-important first goal for the club where he rose up the ranks.

Here is how some West Ham fans reacted to Johnson’s first goal for the club.
