BBC pundit goes berserk over ‘disgraceful’ incident he noticed in West Ham United v Fiorentina

Scott Minto is furious with West Ham fans who threw objects onto the pitch in their 2-1 Europa Conference League final win against Fiorentina in Prague on Wednesday night.

In the first half, play was halted after Cristiano Biraghi was struck on the head when trying to take a corner.

BT Sport’s footage of the incident seemed to show a plastic cup hitting the Fiorentina captain, who was left with a cut and in need of being bandaged up.

Ex-Hammers player Minto raged at the fans who were involved in the incident.

“The West Ham fans shouldn’t be doing that, they don’t need to be doing it,” said Minto on BBC Radio 5 Live, as quoted on BBC Sport’s matchday blog on Wednesday night (7 June, 08:35pm).

“It is poor and not needed, so disgraceful. Do not get involved in things like this.”

Disgusting

Why? Just why?

You’re one of a lucky few thousand West Ham fans to have a ticket to the final at the Eden Arena, you’ve booked time off work, you’ve spent a lot of money and could have been witnessing history – a once-in-a-lifetime event.

Why on earth would you throw all of that away and ruin it for the sake of throwing a plastic cup at someone just because they’re not playing for your team?

Fiorentina’s play may have been ugly and frustrating but what kind of state are you as a person if you feel the need to throw something at a man out of anger?

Grow up, seriously.

Whoever threw objects at players during that game, we hope you’re found by the police and punished by Czech law. We also hope you’re never allowed to step foot inside a stadium when West Ham United are playing again.

An absolute, utter disgrace.
