Aston Villa v West Ham United: Graham Potter makes huge blunder

Graham Potter has named his first West Ham lineup as they take on Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Friday.

The Hammers boss has opted to pick Niclas Fullkrug as the Hammers will be looking to pick up a win at Villa Park on 10 January.

Potter has already had talks with Mark Noble and it remains to be seen how much of it materialises on the field of play.

Carlos Soler should be starting against Aston Villa

The decision to start Fullkrug could backfire as Villa are known to hold a high line and he does not have that ability to run in behind.

Playing Mohammed Kudus as the nine would’ve given the attack a much more fluid look and Carlos Soler could plas the number 10.

It remains to be seen how Fullkrug fits into Potter’s system as the Englishman is known to play an open and expansive style of football.

West Ham fans will be excited for once with Graham Potter in charge

This is Potter’s first game in charge and fans certainly will be excited with the start of a new era.

He has achieved success at Brighton and before that so the expectation will be that he can implement an attacking style of play at the club.

It may take time but it’s certainly on the cards and hopefully, the players respond well to the new manager.

In other West Ham news, sources claim the Hammers can now secure the services of a £40m player in January.
