Alphonse Areola passes fitness test, Kalvin Phillips decision made – Confirmed West Ham United XI v Arsenal

David Moyes has decided to leave out Kalvin Phillips once again as West Ham to take on Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday (11 February).

Ahead of kick-off, the Hammers confirmed via their official Twitter account (11 February) with Moyes sticking with the same team which lost against Manchester United and has taken the decision to bench the loan signing once again at the London Stadium.

Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez remain at the heart of the West Ham midfield with Ben Johnson, Mohammed Kudus and James Ward-Prowse featuring behind Jarrod Bowen as the loan frontman.

In defence, Kurt Zouma, Vladimir Coufal, Nayef Aguerd and Emerson all keep the place while Alphonse Areola stays in between the sticks after being withdrawn with an injury at Old Trafford last weekend and has seemingly passed a late fitness test.

Mikel Arteta will be seeking revenge on David Moyes

It’s now six games without a win in all competitions for Moyes’ men and that came after Christmas against Arteta’s men at the Emirates Stadium (28 December).

The Gunners will be seeking some revenge for that defeat and will be buoyed by their crucial and huge win over Liverpool last weekend that kept them in touch with the Premier League title chase.

West Ham on the other hand will be approaching this game with a limited weaponry on their hands, having sold Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma while Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio are currently out injured.

The Irons boss has recently made the baffling choice not to deploy a striker in Danny Ings, a decision which has cost him and his side, lacking urgency and cutting-edge against Bournemouth and Manchester United.

Moyes needs to learn from those errors against the Gunners because the Hammers fans will be demanding improvement on home turf or things could well get ugly at the London Stadium.

In other West Ham news, Jamie Carragher has offered his score prediction ahead of the meeting with Arsenal.
