West Ham's Manor Solomon admits he 'wasn't good enough' as Israel suffer yet another bad result
West Ham United winger Manor Solomon wasn't happy with his performance for Israel on Thursday.
The 27-year-old has been superb for West Ham since signing from Tottenham in the summer.
He's notched two goals and two assists from his first eight Championship appearances for the Hammers.
As such, he headed into this first international break of the season in strong form and full of confidence.
Unfortunately for him, this purple patch hasn't translated over to his Israel performances.
Solomon hasn't provided a single goal contribution in Israel's three games of this break, with the most recent frustration coming against Kosovo.
Why was Manor Solomon unhappy with his Israel display vs Kosovo?
Thursday night saw Israel take on Kosovo in Debrecen, Hungary, for the third group stage game of their Nations League campaign.
Israel entered it winless from their first two matches in the competition, and so were in desperate need of three points.
They didn't arrive, however, as Ran Ben Shimon's side were held to a goalless draw by Franco Foda's team.
Solomon started and played the full 90 minutes in Debrecen, but couldn't stamp his authority on proceedings.
Speaking via Israeli news outlet Ynet post-match, the West Ham winger didn't hold back on his own performance.
"We lacked quality in attack, I wasn't good enough either, I didn't bring the required quality," Solomon admitted.
Solomon also confessed that his Israel side as a collective weren't good enough, and do the stats from the game prove that?
How the data shows Solomon had little to work with vs Kosovo
Indeed, it probably wasn't Solomon's best night in an Israel shirt, and he is right to feel like he could've done more in the game.
But his team weren't at the races in general, and the data from the match shows just how little opportunity he had to make his mark.
Per FotMob, 42 per cent of Israel's attacking play came down their right flank, with only 33 per cent down Solomon's left.
Meanwhile, they only completed 152 passes in the opposition half compared to Kosovo's 248 in Israel's.
Kosovo had more touches in the opposition box (25 to 20), whilst they also put 18 shots on goal to Israel's 10.
Mergim Vojvoda, Kosovo's captain and right-back, put in a man of the match performance too, making it that bit harder for Solomon as well.
Overall then, Solomon has shown his class by fronting up to his sub-par performance.
However, he was behind the proverbial eight ball when it came to having the best chance to be creative and impactful on Thursday night.
