West Ham United have been told to announce David Moyes' departure by Tom Rennie following the Irons' defeat to Chelsea.

The Hammers were miles off of their best as they were beaten 5-0 by Mauricio Pochettinho's side on Sunday (5 May) thanks to goals from Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Noni Madueke and a brace from Nicolas Jackson.

During the first half, reports emerged that Julen Lopetegui is excited by the opportunity to take over the reins at the London Stadium and talkSPORT broadcaster Rennie believes the Irons must make a public decision over the Scotsman.

Writing on X on Sunday (5 May) he said: "They should announce this week that David Moyes is leaving, and the Luton game could be a nice day all around. This has run its course, and even he knows it.

"He should also start taking it with a bit of grace as well. The league season in 2024 has been really poor."

This amount of uncertainty this close to the end of the season simply cannot be helpful for the Hammers. While their rivals will already be planning for the transfer window, they don't even know who will be in their dugout.

It seems clear that Lopetegui is the man who will take over from the Scotsman at the end of the campaign, but for some reason, there is a reluctance from those within the club to make that decision public.

David Moyes looks set to leave West Ham.

To continue discussions behind the manager's back is nothing short of disrespectful and Moyes deserves much better considering what he has done previously, particularly in Europe.

Hopefully, those in charge will listen to the pleas of Rennie and the majority of supporters and make a decision sooner rather than later. That was, Moyes can get the send-off he deserves in the final matches of the campaign.
