West Ham United: Star players 'fed up' after Kurt Zouma performances at London Stadium

West Ham Zone speaking to Frank McAvennie

Two stints with the club and still a firm favourite with the fans all this time later, thanks to lines like these from his autobiography: “It was the tops. The place to be. I wouldn’t give a monkey’s what the pay was. I’d play for West Ham for free.” McAvennie will bring you all his latest opinions about the big news stories from West Ham.

Frank McAvennie has suggested Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen will be "fed up" with the performances of West Ham defenders in recent weeks.

The former Hammers man singled out Kurt Zouma and Konstantinos Mavropanos for criticism after the 2-0 defeat to Fulham as he insisted the pair are not good defenders.

McAvennie - speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone - went as far as insisting he would love to play against Zouma and Mavropanos as he reiterated that they are not good defensively.

"[Movropanos made a mistake] again. I think him and Zouma, the two of them, I don't think they're good defenders. I've told you before about Zouma. I just don't think they're good defenders and I'd love to play against them," McAvennie joked.

"Sometimes geniuses like Paqueta, Kudus and Bowen must be fed up with the defending and having to track back. What are they doing?"

Zouma and Mavropanos have come under particular pressure for their performances this season as their mistake-prone displays have been a large reason for the growing frustration at negative results at the London Stadium.

McAvennie has repeatedly expressed concern about their ability, insisting that they must be replaced in the summer transfer window if the Hammers wish to improve the consistency of their results under David Moyes.

The former Hammer had also recommended that the club sign Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, claiming a move away from the pressure at Old Trafford could allow him to thrive at a club like West Ham.

As well as Maguire, the club have targeted moves for the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo and Max Kilman, with centre-back becoming a clear area in which improvement is needed as a result of the club's performances this season.
