West Ham are in prime position to beat two Premier League rivals to the signing of FC Nordsjaelland's winger Ibrahim Osman, the Daily Mail reports.

According to the report from Sami Mokbel late on 23 January the Hammers are in talks with the Danish side over a £16million move for the teenager and have "stolen a march" on both Brighton and Brentford.

The Seagulls are said to have a particularly strong interest in the Ghanian but it is the Irons who are now pushing to get a deal over the line before the close of the January transfer window.

It can't be certain until anything is signed and officially announced but the fact that the Irons appear to be overcoming top flight competition in multiple pursuits this month is a welcome development at the London Stadium.

The opposite felt like it was true in recent windows as the likes of Amadou Onana and Carlos Borges ended up moving elsewhere.

Despite what looks like a few obvious deficiencies in the squad David Moyes has ended up delivering a fairly successful first half of the season, with a few notable exceptions such as the FA Cup defeat to Bristol City.

If he can secure the reinforcements he thinks he needs midseason then there should be some hope of a strong finish to the campaign.

Attacking areas looked like the most obvious area of need so if Osman comes in and Tim Steidten can help finally land a striker then the options would be looking pretty good in East London.
