West Ham United set high ambitions for new striker transfer at London Stadium

West Ham have been highly ambitious in their efforts to sign new forwards this summer, with their lofty aims matched by London rivals Chelsea, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper shared a report on Chelsea's efforts to replace their injured attackers this summer, listing the likes of Brennan Johnson, Folarin Balogun and Mohammed Kudus among options the Blues are exploring.

All three of the players mentioned have been linked with West Ham too - clearly displaying the Hammers' lofty ambitions in the transfer market as they look to keep up with the league's biggest spenders and most high-profile clubs.

West Ham showing their ambition to fight with the best teams in the country was displayed by their 3-1 victory over Chelsea on the pitch on 20 August, and while the Blues may not have been up to scratch for a while now, their status still commands presence, and the victory should be praised.

They will now look to replicate their on-field displays off the pitch by beating Chelsea to their attacking targets as the Hammers look to push ahead in moves to strengthen their attack, both at striker and on the wings, with several star names in line.

Reports suggest West Ham are only £3-5million away from securing a deal with Ajax [ExWHUemployee, 21 August] to bring Kudus to the club despite interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, although the Hammers may be reluctant to cough up the money which could lead to a breakdown in talks.

Interest also remains in two Chelsea strikers - Armando Broja and Romelu Lukaku - who the club could make moves for in the window's closing days.

The Hammers' interest in Johnson could also be one to watch, although the £50million price tag being banded about could prove prohibitive to their interest.
