West Ham United: Pundit takes David Moyes shot after Danny Ings decision

Frank McAvennie believes David Moyes has left West Ham fans perplexed with his decision to drop Danny Ings.

The English striker played a few games in Michail Antonio's absence and the 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United.

That was just his second Premier League start of the season with him making 11 appearances off the bench for the Hammers.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie, the former Hammers striker said:

"Go back to basics and see where that gets you.

"What they've not got his togetherness. I don't see them all together as a team.

"I know Paqueta is a wonderful talent but surely one player doesn't make that much of a difference.

"I can't understand what he's [Moyes] doing.

"Ings gets Man of the Match and he gets dropped. I don't get what the situation is with that.

"I don't think the fans do either and that's where the problem is. You see Danny Ings has worked his socks off up front, gets Man of the Match and gets dropped the next game."

Ings is not the answer to the attacking woes of West Ham United

There might be plenty to question about Moyes' tactical decisions but his treatment of Ings is not something that raises eyebrows.

The 31-year-old is at the London Stadium to fulfil a bit-part role and not to be a regular starter.

He might not be at the club next season and the Hammers need to invest heavily in a top striker this summer.
